When you apply the Play Sound on Mouse Click or Mouse Over action setting to a selection (text or graphics), the selection does not appear as a hyperlink. In other words, it does not change color and it is not underlined.

CAUSE

The Play Sound option in the Action Settings dialog box does not apply the hyperlink property to a selection.

NOTE: You can apply both a Play Sound and a Hyperlink action setting to a selection.

WORKAROUND

If you do not want to create a hyperlink, but you want the selection to appear as a hyperlink, manually change its color and add an underline.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition.
