ACC97: ASP: Error Opening ASP Containing Tab Control (164483)

SYMPTOMS

When you export a form that contains a Tab control as an Active Server Page, you may receive the following error message when you open the page on your Web browser:
An error has occurred in the script on this page. The script operation has been canceled.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error

[Line: ##] Object required: 'Name of a control on the Tab control'

When you click OK, the form opens but does not contain the Tab control or any of the controls that exists on the Tab control.

CAUSE

You cannot output Tab controls or controls on Tab controls to dynamic Active Server Page format.

RESOLUTION

To export the information on a form that contains a Tab control, you must remove the Tab control and place the information on the form.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior


  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb in Microsoft Access 97.
  2. In the Database window, click the Forms tab and select the Employees form.
  3. Save the form as an Active Server Page.
  4. Start your Web browser and type the URL for the Employees file you just created. Be sure to include the correct path for the file. Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
