How to Add an Internet Directory Service to Internet Mail (164433)

SUMMARY

Internet Mail and News 1.0 build 1160 for Windows 95 includes support for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) standard for Internet directory services. By default, the following two Internet directory services are provided with Internet Mail: Bigfoot and Four11.

NOTE: The InfoSpace Internet directory service was added to Internet Mail and News 1.0 build 1161.

To add a directory service in Internet Mail, follow these steps:

  1. In Internet Mail, click Address Book on the File menu.
  2. On the File menu, click Directory Services.
  3. Click Add.
  4. In the Friendly Name box, type the name of the service. For example, to add the InfoSpace Internet directory service, type "InfoSpace" (without quotation marks).
  5. In the Directory Service box, type the service access name. For example, type "ldap.infospace.com" (without quotation marks).
  6. In the Authentication Type box, click the appropriate option for the service.
  7. Click OK, and then click OK again.
NOTE: For the specific settings and entries, it may be necessary to contact the directory service provider for more information.
