PPT97: AutoShape in Updated Presentation Turns Black After Build (162942)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q162942 SYMPTOMS
When you open a PowerPoint 7.0 presentation in PowerPoint 97 and run it
as a slide show, some of the shapes in that presentation may turn black.
This problem occurs in the following circumstances:
- A shape has a gradient fill.
- The picture was pasted into the presentation.
- Another object on the same slide has an animation effect.
Note that this symptom does not occur all of the time, but depends on the
placement of the object and the animation effects that you applied to the
object.
CAUSE
A PowerPoint 7.0 drawing object that has a gradient fill is a complex
object. When a PowerPoint 97 slide with animation effects is displayed in a
slide show, your computer screen redraws more frequently and the object
turns black.
WORKAROUND
To prevent the objects from turning black when the screen redraws, recreate
the object using the PowerPoint 97 drawing tools. PowerPoint 97 can display
native PowerPoint 97 drawing objects more efficiently during a slide show.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 97
for Windows.
