Unix FTP Clients Get 1 Line at a Time w/ SNA Server AFTP Gateway (162764)

When you issue FTP commands from a Unix computer through the SNA Server FTP-
AFTP gateway, the Unix screen will display one line at a time. In a
multiline response from the SNA Server, you must press the Enter key for
each successive line of text. MS-DOS and Windows clients work fine. The
same Unix computer will work fine against the Windows NT Server FTP
service.
CAUSE
The following is a sample packet from the SNA Server AFTP Gateway Service.
The byte sequence "0A 0A" is where the Unix client stops displaying.

The SNA Server AFTP Gateway service was not sending a carriage return (0D
hex) at the end of each line of text.
RESOLUTION
Apply the fix referenced below. A carriage return (/r) was added to the
data stream at the end of each line of text (along with the newline [/n]
for clients needing it).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SNA Server versions 2.11
and 2.11 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
A supported fix is now available for 2.11 sp1, but has not been fully
regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this
specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific
problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that
contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more
information.
