Golf 3.0: Player Name and PID List "Illegal Copy" (162723)

SYMPTOMS

You see the words "Illegal Copy" listed as a player name and as the Product Identification Number (PID) in Microsoft Golf, version 3.0.

CAUSE

This occurs if the Golf 3.0 Program Files were not installed during the original installation of the program.

RESOLUTION

Remove and reinstall Golf 3.0. This will remove "Illegal Copy" from the list of available players and as the Product Identification Number.

Use the following steps to remove Golf 3.0:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
  4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Golf 3.0, and then click Add/Remove.
  5. Click Remove All.
  6. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove Microsoft Golf 3.0.
  7. Click Restart Windows to finish removing Golf.
To reinstall Microsoft Golf 3.0, insert the Microsoft Golf 3.0 compact disc and click OK to begin Setup.

NOTE: If the Autorun feature is not enabled and Setup for Golf does not automatically begin, do the following:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Install, and then click Next.
  4. Click Finish to begin the Golf 3.0 Setup.
  5. Complete the setup by following the installation instructions on your screen.
