Hiding Nonadjacent Rows May Hide Other Rows (162472)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95 7.0a
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 5.0c
- Microsoft Excel for Windows NT 5.0
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh 5.0a
This article was previously published under Q162472 SYMPTOMS
In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above, when you use the EntireRow
property in a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro to hide
nonadjacent rows, all rows that are between the first cell and the last
cell addresses that you specify in the macro are hidden. For example, the
following line of code:
Range("A1,A3,A5").EntireRow.Hidden = True
hides rows 1 through 5 instead of hiding rows 1, 3, and 5.
WORKAROUNDMicrosoft provides programming examples for illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied. This article assumes that you are familiar with the programming language that is being demonstrated and with the tools that are used to create and to debug procedures. Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular procedure, but they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality or construct procedures to meet your specific requirements.
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Set all of the row heights 0 (zero) instead of hiding them. For example,
use code similar to the following:
Range("A1,A3,A5").RowHeight = 0
Method 2
Use the Hidden property and loop though each row to hide it. For example,
use code similar to the following:
Range("A1,A3,A5").Select
Range("A1").Activate
For Each Area In Selection.Areas
Area.EntireRow.Hidden = True
