SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to download a file from a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Web site in Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Macintosh by clicking a hypertext link on a Web page, Internet Explorer does not prompt you to specify where you want to save the file.

CAUSE

By default, Internet Explorer saves files that you download from FTP sites to the location specified in the Internet Config settings, instead of prompting you to specify a location.

RESOLUTION

To cause Internet Explorer to prompt you to specify where you want to save a file downloaded from an FTP Web site, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold down the OPTION key.
  2. Click the link associated with the file you want to download and hold down the mouse button.
  3. Click Download Link To Disk on the menu that appears.
