OL97: Error in Outlook 97 Using Spelling Checker (162083)

When you try to use the spelling checker feature in Microsoft Outlook 97,
you may receive the following error message:
Error occurred while checking spelling. The shared Spelling
component is configured incorrectly. Please run setup again.
This error does not occur in other Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office
95 programs.
CAUSE
This problem can occur under several circumstances.
- The Microsoft Office shared Proofing Tools are not installed.
- The spell checking features are not configured properly.
- The insertion point is not inside the body of the message when you perform the spell check.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem:
- Verify the proper configuration for the spelling checker. To do so, on the Tools menu, click Options. On the Spelling tab, make sure that the Always suggest replacements for misspelled words and Always check spelling before sending check boxes are selected. If the options are not available, continue to the next step.
- If the General options on the Spelling tab are not available, quit Outlook. Then, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. Click Microsoft Office 97, and then click the Add/Remove button.
- In the Microsoft Office 97 Setup dialog box, click the Add/Remove button for the Add new component or removed installed components option. Click to select the Office Tools check box, and then click the Change Options button.
- If the Spelling Checker is already selected, continue with the steps in the "To Remove the Office 97 Spelling Files" section, followed by the steps in the "To Install Office 97 Spelling Files" section.
If the Spelling Checker is not selected, click to select the Spelling Checker check box, click OK, and then click Continue.
To Remove the Office 97 Spelling Files- Run Office 97 Setup, and then click Add/Remove to open Maintenance
Mode Setup.
- Click to select the Office Tools check box, and then click Change Option to open the
Office Tools dialog box.
- Click to clear the Spelling Checker check box.
- Click OK, and then click Continue.
- Click Start, click Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- Search for the Mssp232.dll file. If you find it, rename it to
Mssp232.old.
- Search for the Mssp2_en.lex file. If you find it, rename it to
Mssp2_en.old.
You must restart the computer before proceeding to the next set of steps.
To Install Office 97 Spelling Files- Run Office 97 Setup, and then click Add/Remove to open Maintenance
Mode Setup.
- Click to select the Office Tools check box, and then click Change Option to open the
Office Tools dialog box.
- Click to select the Spelling Checker check box.
- Click OK, and then click Continue.
MORE INFORMATION
Outlook 97 cannot use the Office 95 spelling files; however, all other
Office 97 programs can use the Office 95 spelling files, and all Office 95
programs can use the Office 97 spelling files. To check the spelling of a name in the To, Cc, or Bcc field, use the command for checking names instead.
