XL97: Worksheet Events Don't Occur After Clicking Link (162045)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q162045 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel 97, when you click a hyperlink in one worksheet (Sheet1,
for example) that is linked to a location in another worksheet (Sheet2, for
example), the following symptoms occur:
- The Worksheet_Deactivate subroutine that is attached to Sheet1 is not
run.
-and-
- The Worksheet_Activate subroutine that is attached to Sheet2 is not run.
CAUSE
These problems occur because worksheet events, such as Worksheet_Deactivate
and Worksheet_Activate, do not occur when you click a hyperlink.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
In Microsoft Excel 97, you can create a hyperlink that links to a Web page
on the Internet or a local intranet, to other documents on your local hard
disk or on a network server, or to other locations in the same workbook.
For example, you can create a hyperlink in a cell in one worksheet that
activates a specific cell in another worksheet when you click the
hyperlink. If you create this type of hyperlink and click it, the other
worksheet is activated. However, when you do this, events that are attached
to either of the worksheets do not occur.
