FIX: SQLTrace May Cause Error 17803 on a Server (162033)

SYMPTOMS
SQL Server may generate the following error if you use SQLTrace and the
application passes float parameters through Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs).
Msg 17803: Insufficient memory available.
This error may also be accompanied by other problems, including a
previously active filter returning to a stopped state, or the inability to
start new filters. Once in this state, it may be impossible to terminate
the SQLTrace application.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, deselect the option of tracing RPC events in
the SQLTrace filter.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server
version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for
Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your
primary support provider.
