Goosebumps: Game Box Lists Wrong Minimum System Requirements (160985)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run Goosebumps, you receive the following error message:
Our test indicates your drive is not fast enough to properly run Escape from Horrorland. Either your drive is rated at less than 4x speed or there is some problem with your drive that Setup cannot diagnose.
The game starts okay, but the overall performance suffers.

This occurs if you install Goosebumps: Escape from HorrorLand on a computer with a double-speed (2x) or three-speed (3x) CD-ROM drive.

CAUSE

The minimum system requirements listed on the Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland product box are incorrect. For the correct system requirements, please see the Readme.txt file included on the Goosebumps CD-ROM.

The following is the minimum system requirements as printed in the Goosebumps Readme.txt:
   HARDWARE AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

   To play Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland, you will need:
   *    Pentium 75 with SVGA local bus video, 256-color display
   *    Microsoft Windows 95
   *    4X CD-ROM drive
   *    8 MB of RAM
   *    2 MB of available hard disk space
   *    8-bit Sound Blaster-compatible sound board plus speakers or
        headphones to hear audio
   *    Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
