SUMMARY

The Microsoft Office 97 and the Microsoft PowerPoint 97 compact discs include an add-in for PowerPoint called the Publish to ASF Add-In. If you install this add-in, you can create ActiveMovie Stream Format (ASF) movie (.asf) files from your presentations.

ASF movies are designed to play across the Internet (or across a company's Intranet.) They are usually low frame-rate movies that can include a compressed audio soundtrack.

When you create an ASF movie from a PowerPoint presentation, what you get is basically a narrated slide show. When you play the movie, you see your slides (minus animation effects) and hear your recorded narration (if any.)

To install the Publish to ASF Add-In, do the following (these steps assume that the drive letter for your CD-ROM is D:).
  1. Open the following folder on the Office 97 or PowerPoint 97 compact disc: 
          D:\ValuPack\Asf
  2. Run the following program called Asfppt.exe.
  3. Follow the on screen instructions.
To play an ASF movie, you must install the ActiveMovie player. If you don't already have this installed, you can install it from the Office 97 or PowerPoint 97 compact disc:

  1. Open the following folder on the Office 97 or PowerPoint 97 compact disc: 
          D:\ValuPack\Amovie
  2. Run the program called Amovie.exe.
  3. Follow the on screen instructions.
