XFOR: Virtual Root Can Be Removed while Alias References It (160165)

SYMPTOMS

Any attempts to deliver mail to a user where the Mailroot has been removed will result in an error of the .ltr file being created with the following contents:
The system cannot find the path specified.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

If there is a user whose mailstore is "/mailroot2" (or any mailroot you created), that mailroot can be deleted using the Administrator program. To delete the mailroot:

  • On the SMTP directories tab, select the mailroot and click Remove . The mailroot will be removed.
