SUMMARY

By default, Microsoft Team Manager does not have a Graph bar to display milestone tasks, nor does entering zero Total Work automatically "mark" a task as a milestone.

MORE INFORMATION

To create a Milestone task, do the following from a view such as the Workload Planner or Start-to-Finish Graph.

Create Graph Bar

  1. On the Format menu, click Graph Bars. In the Format Graph Bars dialog box, click New, and in the New Bar dialog box, click Date.
  2. In the Edit Bar Style dialog box, in the Bar Style Name box, enter a name, such as Milestone.
  3. Under Bar Shapes, select a shape you want. In the Center bar shape, select the first bar (which is nothing).
  4. Click the Dates tab.
  5. In the End Bar At box, select None. You may also want to click to clear the People Assigned and Summary Task check boxes under "Show Bar In These Rows."
  6. Click the Conditions tab.
  7. Under Show Bar For, click to select "Tasks meeting all selected criteria," and then click to select Milestones.

Add Milestone Column

  1. On the Format menu, click Column.
  2. In the Format Column dialog box, click Add/Remove Columns.
  3. Under Available Fields, locate and select Milestone, and then click Add.
  4. If needed, use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to position the Milestone field relative the other fields in your table, and then click OK.
  5. In the Milestone field, enter Yes.
NOTE: Whether or not a task has Total Work, you can mark it as a milestone. If marked as a milestone, a task that has Total Work will show a milestone marker that appears with other date or work bars.
