SUMMARY

Not all task bars can be dragged horizontally backward or forward in time in views such as the Workload Planner or the Start-to-Finish graph. Work bars cannot be dragged. Date bars that are associated with calculated fields cannot be dragged.

MORE INFORMATION

To determine if a bar can be dragged, move your mouse pointer over the bar. If the pointer icon changes to a left and right (East and West) arrow, then you can drag the bar. Otherwise, the mouse pointer icon remains as the default plus shape.

Another way to tell whether or not a bar can be dragged is to look at the definition of the bar. To determine the characteristics of a given bar, do the following:

  1. On the Format menu, click Graph Bars.
  2. If the Type column in the Format Graph Bars dialog box for the bar says Work, it cannot be dragged.
To determine if bars of Type "Date" can be dragged:

  1. Click on the bar name where the appearance is the same as the bar you want to drag.
  2. Click the Edit button.
  3. Click the Dates tab.
  4. In the "Start bar at" and "End bar at" lists, look at the date field. If the following dates fields are included in the bar, it can be dragged:
          Baseline Start
          Baseline Finish
          Deadline

All other fields are calculated by Microsoft Team Manager and cannot be directly manipulated.
