SUMMARY
Migration from earlier versions of Microsoft Access to Microsoft Access 97
is straightforward. When you initially open your database in Microsoft
Access 97, you have two choices: to convert the database to version 97, or
to open it in version 97. The Convert option will perform a binary
conversion, so that you can take advantage of all the new features of
Microsoft Access 97. After it is converted, however, you can no longer use
the database in earlier versions of Microsoft Access. The Open option will
leave your database unchanged, so you will be able to share it with users
of earlier versions; however, you will not be able to make design changes
to the database.
