In Outlook 97, the AutoSignature feature works differently than it does in Microsoft Exchange Client in the following ways:
When you install Outlook over Exchange Client, the AutoSignature is not converted.
You can define only one true AutoSignature and it cannot contain graphics unless Word is used as your e-mail editor.
Whether WordMail is used or not, you can mimic multiple AutoSignatures by using templates.
To create an AutoSignature in Outlook, you can use one of the following three procedures.
Use the following steps to create an AutoSignature when you are not using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor:
Click the
Inbox
.
On the
Tools
menu, click
AutoSignature
.
In the
input
box, type the text you that want to include in the signature information. You cannot insert graphics into an AutoSignature in this mode.
Click
OK
.
Use the following steps to create an AutoSignature when you are using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor:
Open a new e-mail message.
Enter the signature as you want it to appear. You can also insert graphics in this mode.
Select the signature that you entered.
On the
Tools
menu, click
AutoSignature
.
Close the e-mail message.
You can mimic multiple AutoSignatures by defining templates that contain your signatures. To do this:
Open a new e-mail message.
Enter the signature as you want it to appear. You can insert graphics in this mode.
On the
File
menu, click
Save As
.
In the
Save As Type
box, click
Outlook Template
.
In the
File Name
box, type a name for your template.
Click
Save
.
Close the e-mail message.
NOTE
: To use your AutoSignature templates, click
Choose Template
on the
Compose
menu, and then double-click the template that you want.
