XL97: Cannot Change Value for Form Control on a Worksheet (159622)

When you click an option button, check box, list box, combo box, scroll bar
or spinner control on a worksheet, the control does not change as expected.
For example, when you click a list box, the selected item in the list does
not change. Also, the cell link value does not change.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the form control is linked to a merged cell.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, unmerge the cell to which the control is
linked. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the form control and click Format Control.
- Click the Control tab in the Format Control dialog box. Make note of the
cell address in the Cell Link box and click Cancel.
- Select the cell that is referenced in the Cell Link box.
- Click Cells on the Format menu, click the Alignment tab, clear the
Merge Cells check box, and then click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in
Microsoft Excel 2000.
