XL97: Error Inserting or Deleting Rows or Columns After Undo (159416)

When you insert or delete a row or column, Microsoft Excel displays one
of the following error messages.
Microsoft Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details, you receive the following error message:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module Excel.exe at
0137:300e1913.
Microsoft Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is
being generated.
Microsoft Excel then quits.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The workbook contains a defined name that refers to a three-dimensional
reference.
-and-
- You group items on a worksheet, insert or delete a row or column,
reference the defined name, and then click Undo on the Edit menu to undo
the insert or delete operation.
-and-
- You insert or delete a column or row that causes a formula that refers
to the defined name to recalculate.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not insert or delete a column in a workbook
that contains a defined name that refers to a 3-D formula when you are in
group mode.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
