TMGR: Finish Date of Task Set to Current Date (159401)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Team Manager

This article was previously published under Q159401

SYMPTOMS

When a manager marks a task as complete in Microsoft Team Manager, the Finish date for the task is set to the current date.

CAUSE

Microsoft Team Manager assumes that the Finish date of the task is the day it is marked complete, not the day that work was last performed on the task.

This will only happen if the manager is marking the task complete in Microsoft Team Manager. If the people assigned to the tasks mark the task complete in Microsoft Team Manager for team members and send updates to their manager, the finish date of the task will be the date of the last actual work entry.

WORKAROUND

The best option is to allow the team members to update the actual work on a task by sending in Task Updates from the Team Manager for team members program.

The workarounds for the manager are:

  • Mark tasks complete on the day they are actually completed. -or-

  • Reset the current date on the computer to the date of the last actual work value, and then mark the task complete.
