TMGR: Dragging a Task in Task Assignments Replaces Assignment (159392)

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a task in the Task Assignments view on the People tab to another person in the list, the second person replaces the first person on the task, instead of being added to the task. Additionally, holding down the CTRL key during the drag-and-drop operation does not affect this behavior.

CAUSE

Because the view is the Task Assignments view, it is assumed, when dragging a task to a new resource, that you are trying to reshuffle the task assignments instead of trying to add people to the task.

WORKAROUND

Use the People drag-and-drop tool on the Tools menu to drag the person you want added to the task from the People tool.

MORE INFORMATION

In most instances, holding down the CTRL key while dragging a task or resource will copy the item to the destination, instead of moving the item.
