Task Name Not Updated When Sending Task Update to MS Project (159385)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q159385 SUMMARY
When sending a Microsoft Project status report, the task name in the status
report will reflect the current task name in the team file. When the
project manager updates the project file, the task name will not get
updated, even if the task name has been changed within Team Manager. The
work, actual work, and remaining work will get updated based on the status
report.
MORE INFORMATION
A project manager can send a TeamAssign message to a team manager. When the
team manager opens the TeamAssign message, the tasks are added to the team
file. The team manager can work on them or delegate them to team members.
The team manager can send a status report back to the project manager to
update the tasks in the project file. If the team manager had changed the
name of the task, the status report would reflect that. The status report
is equivalent to responding to a Microsoft Project TeamUpdate message. The
task name cannot be edited in the TeamUpdate message. Therefore Microsoft
Project ignores any changes to the task name.
