SUMMARY

After you load one of the products listed at the top of this article, the version number reported in the Advanced Settings of your Display Properties is not the DirectDraw version number.

This information is reported by DirectX Setup (Dxsetup.exe).

NOTE: Advanced Settings are not always available on your computer. This depends on what video card you have installed.

MORE INFORMATION

The version reported by Advanced Settings refers to the version of display driver installed on your computer.

To find out the correct version of the DirectDraw installed on your computer, do the following:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. Double-click the hard disk drive letter where Windows is installed.
  3. Double-click the Program Files folder.
  4. Double-click the Directx folder.
  5. Double-click the Setup folder.
  6. Double-click Dxsetup.exe.
The DirectDraw version is reported here on the DirectDraw line.

NOTE: If the display driver is DirectDraw-enabled, DxSetup reports a "Display driver" version number. This number is the version of the DirectDraw portion of the display driver, and may or may not match any of the other version numbers mentioned above.
