SYMPTOMS

If you choose a file type other than the default (*.ppt) in the Open Dialog box, the file type is not retained from one instance to the next. This behavior is different than Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
