PPT97: AutoCorrect Does Not Capitalize Second Bullet Item (157726)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q157726 SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft PowerPoint AutoCorrect feature has a "Capitalize First Letter
of Sentence" option. You may find that this AutoCorrect feature works on
the first bullet item you type, but when you try to type a second or
third bullet item it does not function properly.
CAUSE
The "Capitalize First Letter of Sentence" option capitalizes the first
letter of a word if that word follows a period, question mark, or
exclamation point. If you do not end each of your bullet items with
one of these punctuation marks, the next word is not automatically
capitalized.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
RESOLUTION
It is often correct to end a bullet item without a punctuation mark.
However, in order to use the "Capitalize First Letter of Sentence" feature,
you must type a punctuation mark at the end of each bullet item.
