Neverhood Err Msg: NHC Caused Invalid Page Fault (157575)

When you try to start The Neverhood without using the compact disc, or you
remove the disc anytime during game play, you may receive one of the
following error messages:
"NHC caused an invalid page fault in module SMACKW32.DLL at
0137:004c6cfc."
"NHC caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at
0000:81557fb0."
CAUSE
The compact disc is required for correct operation of the game.
RESOLUTION
Do not attempt to start or play The Neverhood without the compact disc in
your CD-ROM drive. Do not remove the disc during game play.
STATUS
This is normal behavior for a CD-ROM-based program.
