XL97: RefEdit Control in Binder Does Not Collapse (157554)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a RefEdit control on a UserForm inside a Microsoft Binder document, the RefEdit control does not collapse when you click the RefEdit button on the RefEdit control.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, view the Microsoft Excel Worksheet section outside of the Binder before displaying the UserForm that contains the RefEdit control.

To view a Microsoft Excel worksheet outside of the Binder:
  1. Activate the section containing the worksheet.
  2. Click View Outside on the Section menu. The worksheet appears in Microsoft Excel.
  3. Once you have completed viewing the worksheet outside of the Binder document, click "Close and Return to Binder" on the File menu in Microsoft Excel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Excel 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

The RefEdit control is new to Microsoft Excel 97. The RefEdit control provides the functionality to fill an input box with the address of a range by clicking a worksheet and selecting the range.

To use the RefEdit control in your project, click References on the Tools menu, check Ref Edit Control, and then click OK. The RefEdit control appears on the toolbox in the Visual Basic Editor.
