PPT97: Graph Color Does Not Change Once Animation Complete (157538)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q157538

SYMPTOMS

If you select a color as the After Animation setting for a Microsoft Graph object, and the Graph is the final animation on a slide, the After Animation setting is ignored.

CAUSE

There must be another animation following the graph on the same slide to enable this effect.

MORE INFORMATION

This symptom actually occurs with all animated objects, not just Graph objects. If an object is the last animated object on a slide, its After Animation setting is ignored.

RESOLUTION

You can create an invisible object and give it an animation effect.
  1. Create an object with one of the PowerPoint drawing tools.
  2. On the Format menu, click Colors and Lines.
  3. Click the Colors And Lines tab.
  4. In the Fill area, click No Fill on the Color list.
  5. In the Line area, click No Line on the Color list. Click OK.
  6. On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation.
  7. Click the Timing tab.
  8. Click Animate.
  9. Make sure that this object is set to appear following your graph. Click OK.
When you run the Slide Show, the Graph animates as expected. You do not see the drawing object when it appears.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition.
