WD97: Pictures Visible Even When Picture Placeholders Check Box Selected (157119)

SYMPTOMS

After you select Picture Placeholders, pictures in a Word document continue to appear.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Reinsert the Picture

To reinsert the picture, follow these steps:

  1. On the Insert menu, click Picture, and then click From File.
  2. Select the picture you want to insert, clear the "Float over text" check box, and then click Insert.

Method 2: Convert the Picture to an Inline Format

To convert the picture to an inline format, follow these steps:

  1. Select the picture.
  2. Right-click the picture.
  3. On the shortcut menu that appears, click "Clip (Picture) Object" and click Convert.
  4. In the Convert dialog box, clear the "Float over text" check box and click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Picture Placeholders option allows you to hide imported graphics. To select the option, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Click to select the Picture Placeholders check box under Show, and then click OK.
