Patterned Cells Printed Lighter with Object in Worksheet (157066)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q157066 SYMPTOMS
When you print to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 660c printer, a worksheet
with cells that are formatted with a pattern may be printed in a lighter
shade. Note that the cell shading appears correct in print preview.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you print a worksheet that contains a drawing
object.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, set the print quality to Best or
Presentation.
MORE INFORMATION
When you draw an object on the worksheet, patterned cells are printed in a
lighter shade. The presence of a bitmap image on the worksheet causes the
HP 660c printer to change the colors it produces through the optimization
scheme of the printer driver.
When a bitmap image is not present on the worksheet, patterned cells are
printed in a darker shade. This is a result of the dithering algorithms
used by the printer driver.
