The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Query
This article was previously published under Q156837 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Query 97, you cannot use the Save As command to save the
results of a query as a table.
CAUSE
This functionality has been removed from Microsoft Query 97.
NOTE: You can still use the Save As command in Microsoft Query 97 to save
the design of a query.
WORKAROUND
To save your result set in Microsoft Query as a table, first return the
data to a worksheet in Microsoft Excel, and then use Microsoft Excel to
save the data. To do this, use the following steps:
- Activate a new worksheet in Microsoft Excel 97.
- Point to Get External Data on the Data menu, and click Create New
Query.
This starts Microsoft Query.
- In Microsoft Query, create the query, and then click "Return Data to
Microsoft Excel" on the File menu.
- Click OK.
- On the File menu, click Save As. Select the file type in the "Save As
Type" list, type the name of the table in the "File name" box, and then
click Save.
MORE INFORMATION
In earlier versions of Microsoft Query, you can use the Save As command to
save the design (*.qry) or the result set of a query as a table in a
database format that you specify.
