The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0
- Microsoft Publisher 97
This article was previously published under Q156153 SYMPTOMS
If you press ALT+TAB while dragging a Publisher drawing object or
frame with the right mouse button, you experience unusual mouse
behavior when you switch back to Publisher.
Specifically, you can click on any of the drawing tool buttons on the
left toolbar, but the drawing cursor is missing when you move the
mouse into the page area. Also, the buttons on the top toolbar do not
depress when you click them.
CAUSE
When you drag an object with the right mouse button, then release
the mouse button, Publisher displays a menu. If you task switch away
from Publisher before it can display the menu, then switch back,
Publisher is stuck until you make a choice from the menu.
Unfortunately, the menu doesn't automatically display in this case.
RESOLUTION
With the right mouse button, click anywhere in the page area.
Publisher displays its menu. With the left mouse button, click any
choice on the menu. Your mouse now behaves normally.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
