GW: Computer May Stop Responding When You Try to Save Large File (155876)

This article was previously published under Q155876

SYMPTOMS

When you are trying to save a file to a disk in a floppy drive, the computer may stop responding. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL may not restart your computer.

CAUSE

This may occur if there is insufficient disk space on the destination disk.

RESOLUTION

Make certain that the destination disk has sufficient space.

MORE INFORMATION

If you change to an empty disk, and this problem still occurs, the file may be too big for the disk.

To verify the size of the file you are trying to save, follow these steps:
  1. First, save the file to your hard drive.
  2. Click Start button, and point to Programs.
  3. Click Windows Explorer.
  4. Change to the folder where you saved the file.
  5. Right-click the file and then click Properties on the menu that appears.
Make sure that the file is no larger than the disk capacity. For example, the file should be smaller than 1.44KB if you are going to save it to a high density 3.5 inch floppy disk.

NOTE: Graphical images tend to take up much disk space. If possible, delete unneeded images in your file to make it smaller. Multimedia projects created with Greetings Workshop version 2.0 will be large depending on the size of graphical images, animations and attached sound.
