PUB97: Publisher Can't Play .wav File Without Sound Card (155846)

When you try to play an embedded .wav file in Microsoft Publisher, you
may receive the following error:
Another application is playing audio. You can either interrupt
the application or wait until it is done. Then try using Sound
Recorder again.
CAUSE
This error can occur if there is no sound card installed in the
computer, or if your sound card is not listed in the Device Manager
and you have Sound Recorder or Media Player installed.
RESOLUTION
If you have a Sound Card installed but it is not showing in the
Windows Device Manager, then follow the steps below:
- Close all running programs.
- Click Start, then point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Run the Add New Hardware Wizard and search for new hardware.
If you do not have a sound card installed, you must install one if you
want to play embedded sound files.
