When you attempt to insert the value "0." (without quotation marks) into a
column defined as numeric, float, or any other exact or approximate numeric
datatype, the following error message appears:
Msg 1007, Level 15, State 1:
The number '0.' is out of the range for numeric representation
(max precision: 33).
WORKAROUND
Enable trace Flag 107 for the server or any connection that needs to use
this value in or against a column defined as float, decimal, numeric or real.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server
version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for
Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your
primary support provider.
MORE INFORMATION
In SQL Server 6.5, the default interpretation of numbers with decimal
points has changed from real to numeric. Trace flag 107 instructs the
parser to revert to the previous behavior of interpreting as real (numbers
that contain a decimal point).
