How to Remove the Lexmark MarkVision Monitor (155516)

SUMMARY

Lexmark MarkVision is a Windows program that provides printer configuration and status information. MarkVision also gives you control over your Lexmark laser printers by using the bidirectional communication capability of the printer. MarkVision works with printers connected to your workstation through TCP/IP and Data Link Control (DLC), and with printers in the Microsoft Network.

Occasionally it may be necessary to remove or re-install the MarkVisionMonitor. Steps to remove the MarkVision monitor follow:

DLC Monitor

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel and then double- click Services.
  2. Click Spooler, click Stop, and then click Close.
  3. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  4. Delete the following keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\ Monitors\Lexmark DLC Network Port

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lexmark\Print Monitor Utility

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lexmark\Network Printer Utility
  5. Exit Registry Editor.
  6. Delete the following files:

    Lexmon.dll
    Lexlang.dll
    Lexmon.hlp
    Interact.exe
    Interact.dll
    Interact.hlp
    Lexcfg.cpl
    Lexcfg.hlp
  7. Shut down and restart your computer.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Click MarkVision and then click Add/Remove.
  3. In Control Panel, double-click Services.
  4. Click Spooler, click Stop, and then click Close.
  5. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  6. Delete the following keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\ Lexmark TCP/IP Network Port

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lexmark\MarkVision

    NOTE: The above registry key is one path; it has been wrapped for readability.
  7. Delete the following files:

    Lexlmpm.dll
    Lexbcelm.dll
    Lexstart.exe
    Lexbce.dll
    Lexip32.dll
    Lexll32.dll
    Lexnetui.dll
    Lexnetui.hlp
    Mvuninst.exe
  8. Shut down and restart your computer.
Note: Markvision adds the value "lexbce" to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\ DependsOnService

If this entry is not removed before the Lexbce service is disabled, the Spooler service may not start.
