PRJ41: Cannot Save a File Back to The Same Database (155332)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Project file from a SQL database, then select the Save To Database command, the following message appears:
A project with the title <title> already exists in the database

WORKAROUND

Change the title of the file and select the Save To Database command to successfully save the file to the database. To change the file's title, do the following:

  1. Click Properties from the File menu.
  2. In the Title field, change the current entry to another name. You must change only one letter in the title. Click OK.
  3. Click Save To Database from the Tools, Multiple Projects menu.

    The following message appears:
    This project already exists in the database.

    Project Key: ######### Project Name: <entry from unaltered title field>

    Would you like to replace it?
  4. Click Yes to replace the file in the database.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.

This problem was corrected in the maintenance release of Microsoft Project 95. You can obtain this new release by calling Microsoft Technical Support at 425-635-7155 and requesting Microsoft Project 4.1a.
