SUMMARY

This article describes steps to help you troubleshoot problems with unreadable messages in Internet Mail.

MORE INFORMATION

A message may appear to be damaged in Internet Mail if one of the follow- ing conditions exists. Try the following troubleshooting steps to locate the cause of the problem.

  • The language used to create the message may not be loaded on your computer. Find out from the sender, if possible, the default language being used. Either request that the sender post the message in a mutually common language, or install the language the sender is using.

NOTE: For additional information about language support in Internet Mail and News, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • The fonts used by the sender may not be loaded on your computer. Ask the sender to use a common font, or install the required font on your computer. NOTE: Windows 95 attempts to associate an unknown TrueType font with an installed font that is a close match.
  • The sender may have sent the message using an encoding format that Internet Mail does not support. Have the sender resend the message in a plain text format with no encryption.
