Series Order Is Reversed When Chart Type Is Changed to 3-D (154848)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 5.0 and Microsoft Excel 7.0, if you change the chart type of a two-dimensional column or bar chart to a three-dimensional (3-D) column or bar chart, the order of the series for each category may be reversed in the chart.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
  • In the column or bar chart, you select the following options for the category axis (the horizontal axis in a column chart or the vertical axis in a bar chart):

    Value (Y) Axis Crosses between Categories

    Categories in Reverse Order

    -and-
  • You change the chart type from a two-dimensional chart to a 3-D chart.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the Format menu, click Chart Type.
  2. In the Chart Type dialog box, click Options.
  3. In the Format 3-D Bar Group or Format 3-D Column Group dialog box, click the Series Order tab.
  4. On the Series Order tab, click a series listed under Series Order, and then click either Move Up or Move Down to change the order of the series.
