PUB97: Custom BorderArt May Appear Clipped When Rotated (154815)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 97

This article was previously published under Q154815

SYMPTOMS

If you apply a custom BorderArt pattern to an object and then rotate that object, the corners of the BorderArt pattern may appear to have triangles clipped out of it. In addition, if the object is placed on top of another object, the background object may appear to have triangles clipped out of it as well.

CAUSE

This will occur if the BorderArt pattern was created from a bitmap type graphic, such as a .tif, .gif, .jpg, or .bmp file.

RESOLUTION

If you create a BorderArt pattern based on any vector-based graphic, that pattern will rotate correctly. Some examples of vector-based graphics are .cgm, .drw, .cdr, and many .wmf files.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
