How to Customize the Program Used to Play Audio CDs (154724)

SUMMARY

When you insert an audio CD, Windows starts Cdplayer.exe by default. This article describes how to customize Windows so another program starts instead.

To change the program associated with audio CDs, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. On the View menu, click Options (or Folder Options), and then click the File Types tab.
  3. In the list of registered file types, click AudioCD, and then click Edit.
  4. In the Action box, click Play, and then click Edit.

    NOTE: If Play is not in bold letters, click Set Default.
  5. In the Application Used To Perform Action box, type the name of the program you want to run when you insert an audio CD.
