This article was previously published under Q154623 SYMPTOMS
When you are sharing a program that displays a large amount of graphics,
you may notice a decrease in your computer's performance (or speed). Also,
your computer's performance loss may increase as you add more members to
your conference.
CAUSE
NetMeeting intercepts calls made to the Windows Graphical Display
Interface (GDI; the Windows component that handles display information),
and transmits those calls to the other members of the conference. In this
process, graphical resources (memory) are used and may slow your
computer's performance noticeably.
RESOLUTION
Use any of the following methods to improve performance:
- Decrease the number of participants in the conference.
- Increase the speed of your network connection. To do so, you can try
installing a faster modem, or lowering the amount of network traffic
on your local area network (LAN). For information on how to lower the
amount of network traffic on your LAN, contact your network
administrator.
- Close any unneeded programs to increase the available graphical
resources.
