To make Microsoft Project completely compatible with Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5, some of the data types of the fields in the Microsoft Project tables in the SQL Server database have to be changed. Microsoft Project works correctly without changing the data types of the columns, but to avoid future problems of exceeding record lengths it is best to allow Microsoft Project to re-create the tables with the new data types.

There are two processes that can generate the new Microsoft Project database tables. The first uses Projsql.sql to generate new tables to replace the existing tables. The second process enables a SQL server administrator to generate the tables using Microsoft Project. Both of these processes are described in the Readme.txt file.

The Projsql.sql file included here helps you modify Microsoft Project database tables that reside in a SQL Server 6.5 database.

NOTE: Microsoft Project 95, version 4.1 does not support SQL Server 6.5. There has been a maintenance release of Microsoft Project to correct this. To obtain the maintenance release, call Microsoft Technical Support at 425-635-7155 and ask for Microsoft Project 4.1a.

After you obtain and install version 4.1a, Microsoft Project will work correctly with Microsoft Project data saved to a SQL Server 6.5 database. To ensure total compatibility with SQL Server 6.5, you should run the Projsql.sql file included here. Please see the Readme.txt file included with Projsql.sql for more information on using this file.

If you are running Microsoft Project 4.1 with a version of SQL Server less than 6.5, you do not need to use Projsql.sql.
