The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Mail and News 1.0 for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q154136 SYMPTOMS
When you send a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)-formatted mail message
using Internet Mail, it may appear as HTML source code when opened and
read using a third-party mail client.
CAUSE
Some third-party mail clients do not properly recognize the HTML part of
mail messages created by Internet Mail, and therefore incorrectly display
the HTML-formatted portion of the message. Any text portions of the mail
message are displayed correctly.
RESOLUTION
Send only plain text mail messages to users who experience this problem by
using one of the following methods:
- Disable HTML-format for all messages you send by following these steps:
- In Internet Mail and News, click Options on the Mail menu.
- On the Send tab, click Plain Text under Mail Sending Format.
- Click OK.
- Set the sending format for an individual mail message to plain text by
clicking Plain Text on the Format menu in your mail message.
