SUMMARY

In the Task views Actual Work and Cost By Period, double-clicking the lowest row of labels displayed at the top of the Timescale Pane opens the Format Column dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

Any timescale view can have an upper and lower row of period labels, for example quarter labels formatted as "Q3" over month labels formatted as "Jul 96." To control the upper and lower period definitions and formatting, on the Format menu, click Timescale. There is an option to not show the lower row.

The Actual Work and Cost By Period views are the only timescale views that can display multiple work and cost related fields simultaneously under the timescale. For example, the Actual Work view could be formatted to show only Actual Work under the timescale, or it could be formatted to show several fields, such as Actual Work, Remaining Work, and Total Work. To control what fields show up under the timescale, on the Format menu, click Add/Remove Timesheet Columns. If two or more fields are being displayed, then a row of field headers describing the fields automatically shows up under the timescale period labels. Double-clicking a field header brings up the Format Column dialog box where various properties of the column can be formatted, including the column label, width, alignment, and what field it displays. The Format Column dialog box also contains an Add/Remove Columns button that opens the same Add/Remove Timesheet Columns dialog box mentioned earlier.

If only one field is being displayed, so that the row of field headers is not shown, and if the lower timescale labels are displayed, then double- clicking the lower timescale labels brings up the Format Column dialog box instead of the Format Timescale box. Likewise, if neither the field headers nor the lower period labels are displayed, then double-clicking the upper period labels brings up the Format Column dialog box instead of the Format Timescale dialog box.

NOTE: Clicking the right mouse button on any labels in the Timescale Pane opens a menu with the choices Format Timescale and Add/Remove Timesheet Columns. The Add/Remove Timesheet Columns choice is enabled only for the Actual Work and Cost By Period views.
