AutoSave Feature Doesn't Prompt for Document Properties (153171)

When you first save a new document, the Document Properties dialog box
does not appear.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The Prompt for Document Properties setting on the Save tab is selected
(to see this, click Options on the Tools menu)
-and-
- The document has been AutoSaved
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the
beginning of this article. This problem has been corrected in Word 97 for
Windows.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.
Method 1
Use the following steps to change the time intervals between saves:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Save tab, select the Automatic Save Every check box and
increase the time interval in the Minutes box. Click OK.
Method 2
Use the following steps to disable the AutoSave feature:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Save tab, clear the "Automatic Save Every" check box.
If you disable AutoSave, you can still update the File Properties
by clicking File Properties on the File menu.
