The following article provides instructions on how to set up Open Financial Connectivity (OFC) bank accounts and enable them for Home Banking in Microsoft Money version 5.0.

The following instructions assume you already have Money 5.0 installed on your computer.

Before you start, you should have your bank account numbers available.
  1. On the Contents screen, click Account Manager.
  2. Click New Account, which starts the New Account Wizard. Click Next.
  3. Type the Bank name and click Next.
  4. Click the type of account you want to set up and click Next.
  5. Enter the name of the account (Money suggests an account name) and click Next.
  6. Enter the account number and click Next. Accounts may have account numbers in the following format:
        Savings account      Checking account      Credit card account
           XXXXXX-xx           XXXXXX -xx               XXXXXX -xx
    						
    XXXXXX is the account number and -xx is the suffix used to identify the type of account. You must enter the complete account number and suffix.
NOTE: Suffixes are generally used by credit unions to differentiate accounts.
  1. Enter the balance for the account and click Next. If you are unsure of the correct balance, click Next.
  2. If you have other accounts that you would like to set up, click "I have other accounts at this bank" and click Next. Repeat steps 4 to 8 with the information for each of the accounts.
  3. If you do not have more accounts, click "I have no other accounts at this bank" and click Next.
  4. Click "Yes I want to find out about Online Services" and click Next.
  5. Read the descriptions of Online Services and click Next.
  6. Enter the Identification Number for your bank in the space provided and click Next.
  7. Click Connect. Money places a call to the Branding Directory Server to download information that tells Money how to connect to your financial institution.
  8. After the call to the Branding Directory Server is finished, click Finish. You see a message telling you what Online Services are offered by your financial institution.
  9. If you have not signed up for Home Banking with your financial institution, click the More Information button to learn how to sign up for Online Services.
  10. When you have received your password, you can continue with the Online Services Setup Wizard. Click Next.
  11. Select "Yes, I have this information" and click Next.
  12. Money asks you how your system connects to the Internet. Click the "Use my Internet Service provider" option and select your Internet provider from the drop down list. If you have set up a proxy on the system, click the "Use my proxy to connect to the Internet" option.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Enter your account number in the Your ID field and click Next.
  15. Select the first account you would like to enable for Home Banking and click Next.
  16. Click the appropriate boxes for the selected accounts and click Next.
  17. Confirm the accuracy of the information on the following screen and click Next.

    WARNING: The Account type field may be pre-filled with Checking. Choose the correct account type.
  18. If you have another account you would like to set up, click Yes and click Next. This will bring you back to Step 19. If you click No, click Next.
  19. On the final screen, click Finish.

How to Connect to Your Financial Institution

  1. Click Home Banking.
  2. On the Connect tab, click Connect.
  3. Enter your password, click Connect.
Money connects to the server at your bank using your Internet Service Provider and downloads your bank statement and latest balance.
