Problems Using SBFM After Installing MS Access 2.0 (153033)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to generate a Report with the Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager for Microsoft Excel (SBFM),you may receive the following error message
There is not enough information in your accounting package to perform this action. Please choose another action or re-import your Accounting data
and you are not able to continue to make a report.

Also, you may receive the same error message if you try to perform a What- If analysis using SBFM.

CAUSE

You may receive the error message if you installed Microsoft Access version 2.0 after installing the Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager for Microsoft Excel.

RESOLUTION

If you installed Microsoft Access version 2.0 after installing SBFM, run the Setup program for SBFM and choose the Reinstall option of the maintenance mode setup.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

The file, Readme.txt, that is on Disk 1 of the SBFM disks, contains the following information about installing Microsoft Access version 2.0 after installing SBFM:
   3.  INSTALLING MICROSOFT ACCESS 2.0 AFTER MICROSOFT FINANCIAL MANAGER
   =====================================================================

   If you are going to install Microsoft Access 2.0 on your computer and
   you have already installed Financial Manager, follow these steps:

   a.  Un-install Microsoft Financial Manager
   b.  Install Access 2.0
   c.  Install Financial Manager.

   If you do not follow these steps you will encounter errors and
   instability when creating reports or what-if analyses.
				
NOTE: You do not have to uninstall SBFM before installing Microsoft Access version 2.0 because you can follow the directions in the workaround section to fix the problem.
