File Menu Items Available While Creating a Chart in a Binder (152566)

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a Microsoft Excel worksheet object into a Microsoft Binder section, and then start the Chart Wizard in order to create a chart, all commands on the File menu (and other menus) are available while the wizard is running.

If you click Save Binder on the File menu while the Chart Wizard is displaying a dialog box, the following error message appears:
The Binder file could not be saved. A disk error has occurred during a write operation.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are met:

  • You insert a PowerPoint or Word section in Microsoft Binder. -and-

  • You insert a Microsoft Excel worksheet object in the section. -and-

  • You type data in the worksheet and start the Chart Wizard.
This behavior does not occur when you start the Chart Wizard in a Microsoft Excel section in a binder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
